Edward Cooke Family Law supports Resolution's Good Divorce Week 2025
12 November 2025
We are proud once again to support Resolution’s Good Divorce Week 2025, raising awareness of approaches to divorce and separation that put children first, reduce conflict and encourage solutions that work for everyone involved. This ethos is at the heart of our approach at Edward Cooke Family Law. Our belief is that in the vast majority of cases it is possible to agree on financial issues and arrangements for children and to part amicably without needing to go to court through mediation, collaborative law and other non-court routes .
As Resolution members, we champion these values and the Resolution Code of Practice, working tirelessly to support families to find a better way through separation, one that is constructive, compassionate, and fair and, where children are involved, ensures their voices are heard in the process.
All solicitors at Edward Cooke Family Law are proud members of Resolution. We believe passionately in the benefits of collaborative law and mediation, particularly given the need in every situation to focus first and foremost on the needs of any children of the family. With this in mind, we will explore your options carefully with you at the outset.
Our Good Divorce Guide sets out the ways in which we can support couples to achieve a Good Divorce. It is a great place to start if you are unsure which option may be appropriate for your situation. Read our Good Divorce guide here.

Resolution - putting families first
What sets Resolution members apart is our commitment to a Code of Practice, to support clients to resolve matters as constructively – and with as little conflict – as possible, keeping the best interests of children at the heart.
Resolution’s Code of Practice sets out the principles of a non-confrontational approach to family matters, supporting our ethos and guiding how we work.
Where it is possible to do so, we seek to resolve problems outside of court, through a range of options, helping couples take more control over the process and enabling them to move on with their lives more quickly than through the courts.
The Code isn’t just a set of ideals – it’s a practical, everyday guide for how we work with our peers, colleague and our clients:
- We avoid inflammatory language
- We support and encourage families to put the best interests of children first
- We act with honesty, integrity and objectivity
- We help clients consider the long-term emotional and financial impact of their decisions
- We promote communication and collaboration wherever possible
- We use experience and knowledge to guide clients through the options available to them
