Edward Cooke Family Law supports young musicians

09 April 2019

Edward Cooke Family Law, a family law and mediation practice based in West Sussex, has pledged its support for young musicians by supporting West Sussex Music’s “Musical Chairs” campaign.

This initiative aims to provide members of the West Sussex Youth Orchestra with 100 chairs that have been specifically designed with the performance, comfort and well-being of the musician in mind. These musicians' chairs will provide optimal support and flexibility, whilst promoting easier breathing and freedom of movement.

The chairs will be used not only by West Sussex Youth Orchestra, and other Horsham Music Centre ensembles, but also by Horsham Symphony Orchestra and the National Children’s Orchestra, both of which are also now based at Horsham Music Centre.

Edward Cooke said he was delighted that the firm will be supporting young musicians locally:

“Music is so important for children. It is not only an incredible gift to play music, but there is a huge body of evidence showing the benefits that music can bring to children, in terms of academic and general development, and giving them social and emotional skills which they can carry into their adult lives. We are thrilled to be supporting West Sussex Music in their “Musical Chairs” project, which is a fantastic venture and will benefit so many young musicians”

West Sussex Music is a not-for-profit company with charitable status and is the largest provider of high-quality music education to children and young people in West Sussex. Its programmes, instrumental and vocal lessons, ensemble activities, singing and community projects, instrument loan and wide-range of large-scale events benefit over 21,000 children across the county, every year.

The chairs will be used not only by West Sussex Youth Orchestra, and other Horsham Music Centre ensembles, but also by Horsham Symphony Orchestra and the National Children’s Orchestra, both of which are also now based at Horsham Music Centre. Chairs can be bought by individuals, businesses or collectively by groups of donors.
