Family Paralegal - Brighton
28 April 2022
Role Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic Family Paralegal to join us in our Brighton Office.
This is an opportunity to join us at an exciting time as we continue to grow the firm and enhance our reputation as one of the leading specialist family law firms on the South Coast. The practice was founded in 2018 by Resolution National Committee member Edward Cooke, and is now a team of nine. We are listed in both the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners.
We offer a London-quality service on the South Coast and so the candidate will have exposure to high-quality work. We have considerable experience in handling financial remedy cases involving substantial assets (and regularly deal with top London boutique firms on our cases) and complex private law children cases (including with an international element). We are also a highly respected firm in non-court dispute resolution, with three mediators and three collaborative lawyers among our ranks. We also specialise in modern family work, including surrogacy and fertility work and same-sex families.
The successful applicant will be based in our Brighton office and will be required to provide both administrative and fee earning support.
There is potential for the role to be full time or part-time. We are family-friendly employers, provide excellent support and career development opportunities and offer a weekly (non-compulsory!) team exercise class.
Key Duties
- Answering calls and acting as the first point of contact for clients and other professionals.
- Managing fee earners' diaries and organising meetings and appointments.
- Opening, closing and managing files and providing general admin support.
- Drafting emails, letters, court forms and other documents.
- Preparing bundles.
- Liaising with the court by telephone, email and managing the HMCTS online portal.
- Sitting in on client meetings.
- Sitting behind Counsel.
- Assisting with billing and other financial management tasks.
- Assisting with preparation of marketing material such as blogs.
- Legal research.
Person Specification
Experience in a similar Paralegal/Legal Secretary position is preferred but not essential.
We are looking for a driven individual with a pleasant and professional approach who is able to work both independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will have excellent communication, computer and organisational skills with attention to detail.
There may be potential for the right candidate to undertake further training at the firm in the future.
