Nightingale Courts and the impact of the pandemic on an already overstretched justice system

05 March 2021

Edward Cooke recently spoke to the New Statesman for two articles on the impact of the pandemic on an already overstretched and underfunded justice system.

In this article, Edward comments on the role of virtual hearings and the emergence of Nightingale courts in Britain during the pandemic. Edward comments specifically on the combined crown and county court in Chichester, West Sussex, previously the subject of a battle against closure spearheaded by Edward and now re-opening as a Nightingale court in April 2021.
