Edward Cooke Family Law celebrates further growth with appointment of Associate Solicitor Jelena Korobkova

In response to continued demand for our services at both our Chilgrove and Brighton offices, we are delighted to further strengthen the team with the appointment of Jelena Korobkova as Associate Solicitor.

Jelena is a highly experienced specialist family lawyer in all areas of family law, including, divorce, matrimonial finance and private children matters. As a member of Resolution, Jelena is committed to working with families and individuals to resolve issues in a constructive way wherever possible.

Introducing Jelena Korobkova

Jelena studied at the University of Southampton, where she obtained her degree in Law, before attaining a Distinction at the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in Guildford, Surrey.

Jelena trained and qualified with a boutique specialist family law practice in Guildford, where she worked for four years, before joining a large leading national law firm in December 2017. Jelena joined Edward Cooke Family Law in February 2024, working from our picturesque Chilgrove office.

Jelena comments on her approach to and passion for family law and her delight on joining the team:

“I am so very excited to have joined the team at Edward Cooke Family Law. Edward, Michelle, Lauren and the whole team have a distinguished reputation, both regionally and nationally, and it is my honour to have joined such an accomplished team.

I have always felt passionate about making every effort to utilise non-court dispute resolution methods in the context of family law. Situations where conflicts arise as a consequence of separation, or as a result of disagreements surrounding children are, understandably, very emotionally charged.

No-one enters a relationship or has children anticipating a breakup or parental conflict. Balancing those emotions, while striving to achieve the best outcome for the client or the family as whole is frequently challenging, but something that I have always felt very strongly about. After all, how the conflict is managed at this stage can be the difference between former husband and wife remaining amicable, after sharing many years together, and mum and dad continuing to effectively co-parent their children, who are then safeguarded from conflict. 

Although the family is likely to change and take a different form, it is important, where appropriate, to do what is possible to preserve the existence of the family unit. In those cases where non-court dispute resolution is not appropriate, I vigorously protect and defend my clients’ interests through a more formal route.

The ethos and approach of Edward Cooke Family Law in exploring non-court based avenues as well as, where necessary, robustly pursuing the court-centred approach, closely resonated with me and I was extremely pleased when an opportunity presented itself to join the team. I am very excited about the future and cannot wait to see what the next chapter brings!”
